Youngsters from Aledo enjoying strong summer

Coach likes seeing year-round play

Posted

Several young golfers from Aledo are enjoying a successful summer on the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Tour. Bearcats and Ladycats coach Brian Mourning likes seeing the continued play throughout the year.

“Absolutely! The more tournaments the moåre experience they get,” Mourning said. “It’s going to help them out come the fall. I want these kids to compete as much as they can. If you want to be good at golf, you’ve got to stay at it.”

It’s not only the high school players who are having success. Youths as young as 11 years old are playing well. Mourning likes seeing those future Bearcats and Ladycats in action.

“We’ve got some young ones who are playing great and on their way,” he said. “I just want them to be careful not to get burned out. But it is great to see them loving the game so much and working hard at it - and having fun.”
