Hugs and laughter were plenteous during a dedication ceremony at Aledo Athletics sports complex on Bankhead Highway. The Lynch family gathered with about 30 firends and family to dedicate a bench outside one of the ball fields in honor of JT and Paula Wylie and the effort they put into helping establish the sports organization.

Sammie Lynch shared how intertwined the Wylie and Lynch families were and told stories of the beginning of the park and of kids growing up playing ball at the facility. She read scripture from the gospel of John 34 about sowing and reaping the benefits.

“I think we see the harvest that this family planted,” Lynch said of JT and Paula Wylie. “This bench is a way to say ‘thank you’ as a family and show what they mean to us.”

The bench is inscribed, “If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. In honor, JT & Paula Wylie from Roy Lynch Family.”

Sammie Lynch speaks at a gathering of family and friends at the Aledo Athletics fields where the Wylie family were instrumental in the inception of the sports complex. A small bench near the west parking lot was dedicated in honor of JT and Paula Wylie.
