Supporting Mike Olcott

I have known Mike Olcott for years and am proud to call him my friend. I am dismayed at the mud being slung on this good man. Governor Abbott is supporting Mike because Glen Rogers has been part of the group of weak Republicans that speaker Dave Phelan uses to split the power with the Democrats and allow them to block the priorities of the majority of the elected representatives.

Let's get over the need for costly special sessions. The public schools in our area are strongly supported by Mike, myself, and all of my neighbors. Glenn Rogers is using this as a false campaign issue to keep our eye off his weak voting record where he seems to claim his support is what got all the good things passed.

I see in the Star Telegram that some Fort Worth schools are being considered for closing for lack of students. The students are there, they are just fleeing the failing system to other options and these are the people that need financial support. The better approach to a problem is not to paper it over with money but to counter it with a choice, and with competition. It is cruel for us to sit back while our less fortunate neighbor struggles.

It is time for us to elect Mike Olcott who will make all of us proud to be Texans.
