Racquet Cats remain unbeaten in district

Aledo varsity tennis had another strong showing on their home courts, defeating Fossil Ridge High School 19-0.  

There were also five additional practice matches played during the meeting between the two schools that were also victories for Aledo. 

The team faces their final district match next week with confidence due to their District 5-5A record of 5-0 and overall record of 12-3. The Racquet Cats were hosting Chisholm Trail at press time in a match that will determine the District 5-5A champion.

Very few games were given up in the doubles lines. For the boys, Line 1 Jacob Heckathorn/Francois Britz  won 6-0, 6-0; Line 2 Ben Kurth/Casen Freeland won 6-0, 6-1; and Line 3 Noah Nottingham/Tom Ruminsky won 6-2, 6-1.  

All Girls doubles were also strong finishes, with Line 1 Elli Kate Bussmeir/Sydney Byrd (6-2, 6-1), Line 2 McKinley Hayes/Lila Satterfield (6-1, 6-2) and Line 3 Eleanor Jack/Patrice Loftin (6-1, 6-0).  

Mixed Doubles Paxton Psencik/Natalie Nawrocki walked off court, winning 6-2, 6-3.

The boys swept every singles line, with Line 1 Heckathorn (8-4), Line 2 Kurth (6-0, 6-0), Line 3 Ruminsky (8-4), Line 4 Britz (6-1, 6-1), Line 5 Freeland (8-6) and Line 6 Psencik (9-7). 

Girls dominated each singles line, with Satterfield at Line 1 (6-0, 6-1), Bussmeir at Line 2 (8-2); Byrd at Line 3 (8-0), Hayes at Line 4 (6-0, 6-0), Gracie Heydman at Line 5 (8-1) and Line 6 played by Jack (8-1).

The Chisholm Trail match was also Senior Night for graduating seniors Britz, Heckathorn, Bussmeir, Heydman, Jack and Loftin.
