 Live Music Venues
Railhead in Willow Park maintains a lively music scene. Audiences looking for something off the beat- en path can catch a show several nights a week at dozens of restau- rants, bars, and other venues.
Weatherford hosts venues like Antebellum Ale House, Northside Remedy, and Fire Oak Grill.
However, music in Parker County can be found in all directions.
To the west, Backroads Cafe in Brock has pet-friendly outdoor seating.
To the east, Drake’s Yoke and Parker County Brewing Company offer a new experience in Willow Park with outdoor dining and outdoor children’s activities. East Parker Coffee Company in Aledo has open mic nights.
To the north, Shinola’s in Springtown offers traditional Texas hometown cooking.
An off-the-beaten-path option
is the Remedy Room in Aledo, which hosts a “listening room” experience every few months
in a converted space on North Front Street. It offers an extreme- ly intimate experience with very well-regarded artists and has been a little-known bonus of the Parker County music scene.
“It’s not traditional. It’s more about bringing the community together,” said Rob Joslin, one of the co-founders. Joslin and his business partner, Garrett Pace, both live locally but work in the
oil and gas business in Fort Worth. They were looking for office space in Aledo and found a two-story location in the center of Aledo’s historic downtown strip, with a downstairs studio for pilates and upstairs space for offices.
“We got to looking at the down- stairs space and invited some friends of ours who are really heavily involved in the Texas music
scene,” Joslin said. “And they told us the downstairs space would be perfect for a show.”
Every few months, Joslin and Pace move the exercise equipment aside and host an up-close and personal concert with artists. They say audiences in Parker County are hungry for more live music experiences.
Local artist Andrew Jones, who has traveled as far as Mississippi with his music, said one thing Parker County has to offer is vari- ety.
“If you’re looking for country, go to Railhead,” Jones said. “If you’re looking for something more ecletic like folk, look for the coffeehouse type environments.
“Or just randomly go pick some- where. There are a lot of great musicians playing in Parker County.”
