Willow Park: City Council meeting postponed after tragedy

A Willow Park City Council meeting was abruptly halted on Tuesday, Aug. 26, when a resident in the audience suddenly collapsed and appeared to experience stroke-like symptoms. Emergency medical service workers arrived on the scene moments later and rushed her to a hospital, where it was learned she later passed away.

The incident occurred during the citizens’ comments portion of the meeting. Ironically, the woman had addressed the council and audience briefly just a few minutes before collapsing in the middle of another resident’s turn at the podium.

The Willow Park City Council meeting has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. While no site had been announced at press time, the meeting is expected to be at Willow Park City Hall, 120 El Chico Trail.

Meetings of the Home Rule Charter Commission are continuing as scheduled.
