Weldon Turner

Weldon was born on January 15, 1945 to Stuart and Vonda Turner in Fort Worth. He grew up in White Settlement, moving to Willow Park just before his ninth-grade year and graduating from Aledo High School in 1963. He attended Weatherford College before completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1967, and a Master of Education from North Texas State University in 1978.

Weldon met Doris Heady at Aledo First Baptist Church. He fell in love with her blue eyes while in high school and knew she would be his future. They married on April 8, 1966 in Aledo, and he started teaching math in Aledo ISD in the fall of 1967. They were soon blessed with two daughters, Andrea and Carmen.

Weldon went on to become the principal of Aledo Middle School until 1986. He moved to Peaster ISD as high school principal, retiring in 2003 after 36 years in public schools. Even in retirement, he continued to mentor new teachers as a supervisor for ECAP, a teacher certification program.

Weldon loved cars, woodworking, whistling, and singing. His family and his faith were most important to him. He was an active member of Grace Baptist Church, Fort Worth, serving as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher, as well as singing in the choir.

Weldon is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marcus Turner.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris; daughters, Andrea Hutchison (Chris), and Carmen West (Derek); four grandchildren, Carter and Keaton Hutchison, and Cole and Caroline West; sister, Gwen Taylor (Ron); and many nieces and nephews.
