Aledo holds ribbon cuttings and open houses for middle schools

Posted

The Aledo ISD hosted ribbon cuttings and open houses for the newly-renovated Aledo Middle School and the newly-constructed McAnally Middle School on Sunday. Jan. 21.

The renovation of the aging structure that is now Aledo Middle School was a particular challenge for the district.

“This project was one of our most complicated projects,” AISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn said as she described accommodating a crowded campus while closing hallways and temporarily relocating classes during the construction. “In the beginning we had to consider gutting and remodeling it or even tearing it down and starting over.”

Former students will appreciate that the beloved Bearcat Den was left intact but modernized and the kitchen repurposed into drama classrooms and a stage.

“This is something for our entire community to be proud of,” said AISD Board President Hoyt Harris.
