Weatherford's annual Spark in the Park

Posted

The City of Weatherford hosted their annual spark in the park event at Heritage Park. The event packed in around 11,000 people, despite soaring temperatures.

Citizens of Weatherford and families from all over the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex came to the patriotic event to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.

The event hosted many top food trucks and vendors, such as BBQ DNA, which is located in Dallas, and dessert caterers Dosey Dough.

The big music headliners for this event were the Eli Young Band. Opening for them was Texas Clearwater Revival, a cover band formed in 2016 to honor Rock and Roll Hall of Famers John Fogerty and Credence Clearwater Revival.

The Eli Young Band also threw out a couple of covers like “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon.

At about 9:30 p.m., the event was topped off with the 20-minute-long fireworks show while classic songs like “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood and “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus played.

Director of Communications and Marketing for the city of Weatherford, Amy Borders, said “Spark in the Park is an event created for everyone to enjoy. Spark in the Park was established in 2016 to provide a premiere fun-for-all-ages event to celebrate Independence Day while also holding one of the best and largest fireworks displays in the state of Texas.”

Borders also said that the City of Weatherford is always looking to put on new events for the city and provide a great community for citizens to live in.
