Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) is now accepting applications for the 2025 Government-in-Action Youth Tour Program in Washington, D.C.
From June 15-23, 2025, four students selected from across TCEC’s 16-county service territory will join over 150 other Texas high school students to gain leadership experience, meet U.S. congressional representatives, learn about the electric cooperative industry, and tour historic sites.
“The Youth Tour is more than just a sightseeing trip — it’s an invaluable experience that provides these students with the opportunity to grow as leaders, engage in discussions with their congressional representatives and other students from across Texas and the country, and learn more about the role of electric cooperatives,” said Scott Spence, President and CEO of Tri-County Electric Cooperative. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will provide the hard-working students selected for this opportunity a unique view of our government in action.”
Since 2019, TCEC has sponsored 34 high school students on an all-expenses paid trip to our nation’s capital, as part of our commitment to cooperative principle number seven: Concern for Community. This principle reflects our dedication to supporting the growth and development of young people in our local area.
High school sophomores and juniors who reside with parents or legal guardians who are TCEC members are eligible to apply. Youth Tour applications will be evaluated by an independent third party not affiliated with TCEC, and winners will be announced in the spring.
