The Willow Park Trinity Christian Eagles improved to 8-7 with a 4-2 win over Lubbock Christian at home on April 11 despite being outhit 9-3. They dropped the opening game of the doubleheader 2-1.
The Eagles are 1-2 in TAPPS Division III District 1.
In the victory, Hank Nash, Caleb Hart, and Zander Gasowski each had a hit for the Eagles. Ironically, all of the TCA runs were driven in by batters who did not have a base hit, Lucas Smith (2), Ryan Leet, and Tripp Morgan.
The Eagles also benefited from eight walks received by Gasowski (2), Patrick Gullatt, Campbell Karr, Dane Southworth, Hart, Leet, and Morgan.
Nash got the pitching victory and Gullett got the save for the Eagles. Nash pitched 5.2 innings, giving up six hits, one earned run, striking out three, and walking four, while Gullett pitched 1.1 innings with three hits, one earned run, two strikeouts, and three walks.
In the loss, Gullatt had a hit and RBI and Morgan had a hit, while Hart walked. On the mound, Smith pitched six innings, surrendering 10 hits with two earned runs, five strikeouts, and three walks, along with Nash striking out one, walking two, and giving up a hit in his single inning.
The Eagles were ending the regular season with games at Lake Country Christian and at Lubbock Christian, both at press time.
