The Trinity Christian Eagles basketball team traveled to Ovilla Christian to take on the 12-2 Eagles on Friday, Jan. 3.
TCA saw senior guard Reed Robbins return from injury, picked up a key pre-district victory in a battle of Eagle squads. Following a slate of difficult competition in the Vanguard Tournament, TCA emerged victorious by a final score of 52-46.
Robbins, who is usually a starter, came off the bench in this game but slid right back into his defensive role well, according to head coach Jeff Peterson. Furthermore, junior forward Jonathan Overholt had a significant impact with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists while senior forward John Crane put his imprint on the game with 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
The win gives TCA (18-5) a big boost as they near 20 wins on the season. The Eagles’ were playing Dallas Shelton School at press time and travel to North Central Texas Academy in Granbury for tipoff at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10.
Later, TCA’s district portion of their season will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at home against Fort Worth Temple Christian.
