North Crowley, ranked No. 9 in the state in Class 6A, was too much for Weatherford as the Panthers dominated the Kangaroos 62-17 at Crowley ISD Stadium Friday, Oct. 13.

Panther quarterback Chris Jimmerson ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 210 yards and two scores.

The speed of the North Crowley defense gave Weatherford fits all night. The Roos were held to 83 yards passing. North Crowley outgained Weatherford 632 yards to 276 and outrushed the Roos 422 yards to 193.

Things looked promising for Weatherford in the first half. Will Jordan scored on a 59-yard touchdown run to give the Roos a 7-0 lead. It was 20-10 North Crowley at halftime. But 42 unanswered points in the second half sealed the deal for the Panthers.

Weatherford’s JoJo Polk rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown.

At times, the Panthers seemed to succeed in spite of themselves. North Crowley was penalized 13 times for 101 yards, while Weatherford had three penalties for 15 yards. The Panthers also turned the ball over four times – three fumbles and an interception.

The Kangaroos (4-3 overall, 2-2 in District 3-6A) face Boswell (3-3 overall, 1-3 district) on Friday, Oct. 20, at home. It will be a critical matchup for the 3-6A playoff picture as Weatherford is tied for fourth in the standings and Boswell is one game behind.
