Lauren St. Peters of the Aledo Ladycats track and field team was honored by the Texas Girls Coaches Association as a Legacy All-Star recently.
St. Peters, who graduated from Aledo High School on May 24, wrapped up her high school career by winning a gold medal in the shot put at the University Interscholastic League State Track and Field Meet at the University of Texas in Austin on May 3. She also finished fourth in the discus.
It was her third consecutive season to compete at state. She captured a bronze medal in the shot put as a junior and was fourth in both the shot put and discus as a sophomore.
St. Peters will compete for the University of Nebraska next season on an athletic scholarship.
The TGCA selects a maximum of 20 All-Stars, from conferences 1-4A and 5-6A. These athletes are selected by the TGCA Track Committee, which is composed of track and field member coaches of the association, at their annual meeting. Selections are made from nominations submitted by member coaches.
Athletes must be seniors to be selected. These all-stars will not participate in the summer clinic all-star activities but will receive a certificate and a letter jacket patch.
