Nawrocki commits to LSU
Aledo senior Lucas Nawrocki has committed to play for Louisiana State University graduation from AHS in 2026. He was named the MVP of the 5A Division I state championship game as the Bearcats defeated Comal Smithson Valley 8-1 for the title.
Nawrocki excels at the plate and in the field, playing both first base and outfield. A left-handed hitter and thrower, he batted .532 with 33 hits, 30 RBIs, 11 extra-base hits, and 16 runs scored in the 2025 season.
Duran commits to San Jacinto
Senior Dylan Duran of the Aledo Bearcats had committed to play at San Jacinto College following graduation. He drove in 12 runs, along with leading the team in walks with a dozen.
Aledo Middle School vs. Burleson Kerr
Seventh grade: A won 28-12, B won 21-6, C won 34-0.
Eighth grade: A won 48-0, B won 29-0, C won 21-0.
AMS teams have a combined record of 33-4-2 this season.
Weatherford JV 70, Mansfield Lake Ridge JV 42
Players of the Game: Offense - Reed Tidwell, Carson Goff, Braelynn Jones, Austin McKay, Cole McKay, Gunner Ellis, Aiden Barrett, and Parker Clark. Defense - Ace Feriend with a defensive touchdown.
Weatherford Hall Middle School vs. Mineral Wells
Eighth grade: A won 34-14 to stay undefeated, B won 27-0 to remain undefeated.
Seventh grade: B won 16-0.
Aledo JV girls second at Azle
The Ladycats junior varsity placed second at the Buzzy Open at Cross Timbers Golf Course in Azle recently, shooting a team scores of 454. They were led by Charlotte Rand, who shot a 103 for first place individually.
Also for the Ladycats, Lilly Castillo had a 116, Taylor Jones posted a 117, and Addison Younkin shot 118.
The Bearcats’ Cain Goggans shot 86 for fifth place individually among the boys, while Collier Morgan had a 94 and Bentley Beverlin shot 103.
WC competes at San Angelo
The Weatherford College Rodeo team participated in the Angelo State University Rodeo in San Angelo over the weekend of Oct. 24-25.
In goat tying, Jacee Graff received an 11.2 in the first round and an 11.0 in the short go for a 22.2 overall for reserve champion (second place).
In the tiedown roping event, Mason Stueve earned an 11.2 for seventh place in the first, and a 10.4 for second in the short go for a total of 21.6 to place third.
Emily Ward competed in the barrel racing event, clocking in at 35.47 on two to receive third place.
Shane Scott received a total of 149 to place fourth in the saddle bronc.
In team roping, Jett Stewart and Beldon Cox received a score of 7.9 to place fourth in the first round, and an 8.8 in the second for a 16.7 total and second place. Denton Parrish and Brock Borkman earned a 9.1 and an 8.1 for a 17.2 to take third.
The Weatherford College Rodeo team will compete in its final event of 2025 at Vernon College in Vernon on Nov. 7-8.
WC wins fourth straight league title
For the fourth year in a row, the No. 2 nationally ranked Weatherford College volleyball team won the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference title. They clinched it with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-11 win over Collin College in Frisco on Oct. 22. The Coyotes are 27-2 overall and 16-0 in conference with 25 sweeps of 3-0.
The Coyotes have won the conference title every year since the program began in 2022 under head coach Kailee May.
Hall wins district championship
Weatherford Hall eighth grade Lady Roos won the Lone Star 8 District championship as they swept Acton to finish undefeated. A team won 25-19, 25-19 and B team won 25-18, 25-17.
The seventh grade A and B also won the district title.
Tison Middle School splits at Cleburne
Eighth grade: A won 25-18, 21-25, 25-23; B team lost 25-14, 10-25, 17-25.
