Aledo alum in College World Series
Former Aledo Ladycat Brenlee Gonzales is a pitcher with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who finished as NCAA World Series runners-up to the University of Texas this past week. She posted a 2-0 record in 13 appearances for Tech. She had 12 strikeouts in 12.1 innings pitched with a 2.84 ERA.
FISHING
Aledo duo competes at state
The team of Mark Cerja and Miller Hill competed at the Texas High School Bass Association State Tournament this past weekend on Lake Conroe. They caught a two-day total of 29.82 pounds to finish 19th.
GOLF
Purdon wins tourney
Sydney Purdon of Aledo won the Girls 14-18 division in a tournament at Squaw Creek recently. The tourney was part of the Summer First Tee Series featuring the Texas Junior Golf Tour.
NTPGA results
Squaw Creek was the host of a Northern Texas PGA Junior Prep Tour event recently. Highlighting the day was a 1-2 finish by Aledo’s Christian Ziegler and Beckett Saint in the Boys 9-10 age division. Ziegler shot 42 over nine holes and Saint posted a 52.
In the Girls 13-14 division, Addy Hass of Weatherford and Gemma Webb of Springtown tied for first, each shooting 57 over nine holes. Evelyn Moll of Aledo was third with a 64.
The Boys 11-12 division saw Karder McDonald of Millsap win with a 42 over nine holes, with Jaxen Aguilar of Brock second at 53. In the Boys 7-8 division, Liam Battle of Aledo shot 72 for fourth.
Ziegler also won a Prep Tour event in Grand Prairie, posting a 39 for nine holes.
On the Medalist Tour, Ava Cordary of Hudson Oaks shot 82 over 18 holes to win the Girls 15-18 division at Cleburne Golf Links.
In that same tournament in the Boys 15-18 division, Aledo’s Christian Moll was seventh with a 79 over 18 holes and Ryder Kelly of Weatherford shot 83 for 10th.
Also on the Medalist Tour, Addison Russ of Aledo was fourth among girls 15-18, shooting 92 over 18 holes at Hidden Creek in Burleson. At Keeton Park in Dallas, Ryland Haley shot 79 over 18 holes to tie for fourth in the Boys 15-18 category.
