Several from TCA advance to regionals in Track

Baseball ends season

The Willow Park Trinity Christian Academy Lady Eagles finished second and the Eagles were third in the recent TAPPS 3A/4A District 1 Track Meet.

The top four finishers in each event qualified for the regional meet, taking place at press time in Arlington.

Winning district championships were the girls 1600-meter relay of Libby Tovar, Amberlie Daniels, Gracee Whiteaker, Sophie Scott, while Daniels also won gold in the high jump.

Finishing second in their respective events were:

Girls - Tovar, 100; Scott, 400; McKenna Kelley, 100 hurdles;  EmmaGrace Bolz, high jump; Addison Shoppach, shot put; Ella Cockrum, discus.

Boys - Wilson Winchester, 1600; Braxton Smith, 110 hurdles;  1600 relay (Mathew Sykes, Kosta Lueker, Caleb Nelson, Hudson Quinn) and Ben Camp, shot put.

Capturing a bronze medal and placing third were:

Girls - Whiteaker, 800 and 1600; Scott, triple jump.

Boys - Evan Chrane, 100, long jump, triple jump; Landry Crumpler, 300 hurdles; 400 relay (Chrane, Nelson, Smith, Quinn); 800 relay (Chrane, Nelson, Quinn, Toby Thomes); Jackson Sykes, high jump and Camp, discus.

Fourth-place qualifiers include:

Girls - Sadie Gough, 100 hurdles, long jump; 400 relay (Kelly, Tovar, Daniels, Scott); 800 relay (Maverick Gonzales, Daniels, Gough, Kelley) Luecker, 400.

Boys - Winchester, 800; Crumpler, 110 hurdles; Smith, 300 hurdles; Nelson, long jump and Kadin James, shot put.

 

Baseball

The Eagles ended their baseball season with a pair of losses to Colleyville Covenant Classical. In the games played in Benbrook, Classical won the opener 10-0, followed by a 14-3 win in the nightcap on Friday, April 21.

The Eagles ended the season with a 6-18 overall record and a 4-8 record in TAPPS Division III District 1.

At one point in the season the Eagles put together a three-game win streak to improve to 5-10. However, they followed with eight losses in the next nine games.

The Eagles scored five or more runs in 10 games, including more than 10 four times. Their season high was in a 19-1 victory at Venus on Feb. 24.
