Several from area in NTHSRA Finals

Several competitors from the area will compete in the North Texas High School Rodeo Association Finals Friday and Saturday, May 19-20 at the NTHSRA Arena in Saginaw.

The first round begins Friday night at 8, with the second round starting Saturday at noon.

Among those from the area competing is Noah Lee of Weatherford, who enters ranked first in bull riding. Close behind as the No. 3 qualifier is his teammate Jesus Villa.

The top 15 in point standings in each event at the end of the regular season qualified for the finals.

Savannah Letson of Weatherford leads all qualifiers in pole bending. Weatherford also has three of the top five qualifiers in ribbon roping with Taygan Bertsch second, Clayton Praytor third and Caleb Lewis fifth.

Those three are also in the top six of calf roping, with Praytor third, Bertsch fourth, Lewis fifth and Haiden Smith of Weatherford sixth.

Aledo’s top qualifiers are Ashtyn Coufal, seeded seventh in walkup goat tying, and Gunner McCraw, who is seeded eighth in chute dogging.

Weatherford has three of the top five boys in all-around competition. Bertsch is second, Lewis fourth and Praytor fifth.

Weatherford also leads the team standings with 10,164 points, with Azle second with 9,107.

  • Haiden Smith, Weatherford, No. 6 in calf roping; No. 6 in chute dogging; No. 9 in ribbon roping.
  • Gunner McCraw, Aledo, No. 8 in chute dogging.’
