Second Star Theatre to present classically fun play ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

Second Star Theatre Co. will present the award-winning musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” during two weekends of performances at The Venue on Main in Weatherford.

The production will run Oct. 16-18 and Oct. 23-25, with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays and Sundays.

A longtime favorite among theater audiences, “Little Shop of Horrors” tells the story of a struggling florist named Seymour whose discovery of a mysterious plant promises fame and fortune, but at a frightening cost, including endangering Audrey, the woman he loves. Blending comedy, romance and a memorable rock-and-roll-inspired score, the musical has delighted audiences around the world for more than 40 years.

Tickets are $35 and available at secondstartheatre.org. Seating is limited, and advance purchase is encouraged.

“Little Shop of Horrors” features book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. The musical is based on the film by Roger Corman, with a screenplay by Charles Griffith, and is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
