Sandra Lee “Mimi” McIlhaney Faires, 82, of Aledo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, in Willow Park.
Mimi was born May 11, 1940, in Beaumont, to Fred and Jerrye McIlhaney. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth and attended vocational nursing school. She worked in multiple medical offices in the Fort Worth area as she raised two kids, Renae and Kevin. Her last office provided her with the opportunity to meet Lynn Faires, who would become the love of her life.
Mimi and Lynn moved to Aledo where they found lifelong friendships, had successful businesses, and set the stage to live the rest of their lives in service to their friends and family. They were often seen on the social scene within the community. They were inseparable. Mimi was heartbroken with the passing of her beloved friend and companion, Lynn, in August of 2000. She never fully recovered from her loss.
Sandra came to be known as Mimi to all those who knew her from the affectionate name given to her by her grandchildren. Her home became the hub and the place to be as Parker and Price grew up. All the kids loved her gentle laugh and deep sense of humor. Her relaxed disposition made her fun for all generations to enjoy. She loved her role as matriarch and the opportunity to serve and spoil the kids.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Lynn; and son, Kevin. Survivors include her daughters, Renae Taggart and companion, John Williams, of Lubbock, Leslee Lewis and husband, Patrick, of Aledo, Amy Skipper and husband, Matt, of Aledo, and Meg Faires of Colorado; grandchildren, Parker Taggart and wife, Aubrey, Price Taggart and wife, Caroline, Lauren Hutson, and Carter Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Mimi’s honor, to SPCA of Texas.
