Racquetcats rout Brewer

Still undefeated in district

Continuing what has been one of the best fall team tennis seasons in Aledo history, the Racquets routed another opponent to remain undefeated.

Their 21-0 win at Brewer on Tuesday, Sept. 5 improved them to 12-0 on the season and 3-0 in District 5-5A.

Boys doubles Line 1 Craig Mason and Scott Mason and Line 3 Will Beyer and Tom Ruminsky easily beat their opponents, posting scores of 6-0, 6-0. Line 2 Jacob Heckathorn and Francois Britz were on their way to victory when their Brewer opponent had to withdraw due to the heat.  They were awarded the match with a score of 6-2, 2-0.

Girls doubles Line 1 Kenley Germany and Bryanna Orr won 6-1, 6-1; Line 2 Elli Kate Bussmeir and Patrice Loftin won 6-1, 6-0 and Line 3 Eleanor Jack and Natalie Nawrocki won 6-4, 6-1.  The mixed doubles pair of Benjamin Farmer and Lila Satterfield won 6-4, 6-1.

Some of the singles matches were played with regular sets and some with pro-sets, but all were won by Aledo.  Boys Line 1 C. Mason won 6-2, 6-0; Line 2 Farmer won 8-2; Line 3 S. Mason won 6-0, 6-0; Line 4 Beyer won 8-1; Line 5 Heckathorn won 6-0, 6-1, Line 6 Britz won 6-0, 6-0 and Line 7 Nate Ashabraner won 8-1.

Girls Line 1 Orr won 6-1, 6-2; Line 2 Germany won 6-2, 6-1; Line 3 Bussmeir won 6-0, 6-0; Line 4 Satterfield won 8-2; Line 5 Gracie Heydman won 8-0; Line 6 Sydney Byrd won 7-5, 6-0 and Line 7 Jack won 8-2.

The team has a district bye next week and will return for their last home match against Saginaw on Sept. 19 at 4:00pm.
