Top North Side in bidistrict

On Tuesday Oct. 10, the Aledo Racquet Cats took on Fort Worth North Side in the first round of the Class 5A state team tennis playoffs. They earned the bidistrict championship with a victory of 15-0.

It was the 11th consecutive victory for the Racquet Cats (15-1), who won the District 5-5A championship with a 6-0 league mark. North Side was the fourth-place team from 6-5A. 

Boys Doubles Line 1 Craig and Scott Mason and Line 3 Will Beyer and Tom Ruminsky both won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Line 2 Jacob Heckathorn and Francois Britz won 6-1, 6-0. 

Girls Doubles Line 1 Kenley Germany and Bryanna Orr and Line 2 Elli Kate Bussmeir and Patrice Loftin also both won 6-0, 6-0. Line 3 Eleanor Jack and Natalie Nawrocki won 6-1, 6-0. 

Mixed Doubles Benjamin Farmer and Lila Satterfield won 6-0, 6-0. 

With a decisive lead, the Bearcats began singles play with the top four lines. All of the boys singles won 6-0, 6-0 (C. Mason, Farmer, S. Mason and Beyer). Orr won 6-0, 6-0; Germany won 6-0, 6-1; Bussmeir won 6-0, 6-0 and Satterfield won 6-0, 6-1.  The match was finished without playing the remainder of the singles matches. 

The team was playing Birdville in the area round at Brewer High School at press time.
