The Christian musical ran for 37 years at the Texas Amphitheatre. It began with a production about the life of Jesus from June to October. The Promise of Passover was added for the season around Easter, and The Promise of Christmas focuses on the nativity.
The productions featured a cast and crew of more than 150 people.
But this year the production could not come to agreeable terms with new owners of the Glen Rose venue.
But recently the company announced an agreement with Willow Park Baptist Church to host The Promise of Christmas in December of 2025, as well as future productions through 2027.
“We are excited about the new opportunities afforded by the indoor location and the proximity to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex to bring The Promise to an even wider audience,” a release said.
The Promise of Christmas will open Friday, Dec. 5 and run through Tuesday, Dec. 23, and will include new scenes, new digital visual effects, and updated music. For information about tickets, auditions, or applications, visit https://thepromiseglenrose.com/.
“We continue to explore all opportunities for a long-term, permanent home for The Promise, and are grateful to the leadership of Willow Park Baptist for graciously agreeing to share their home with us for the immediate future,” the organization said.
