Prize Posse awards $52k in grants

The Aledo Education Foundation Prize Posse delivered more than $52,000 in grants to campuses in the Aledo ISD on Jan. 5.

Amid the yells from cheerleaders and rhythm of the drum line, the visit to each campus brought welcome news to many classroom teachers.

Among the grants, the six elementary schools, McAnally Intermediate School, Aledo Middle School, Daniel Ninth Grade Campus, and Aledo High School each received $1,899 for “Engaging Excitement with 3D Printing!”

Technology grants were awarded in several campuses. All six elementary schools received grants of $1,250 (each) for “Coding and Circuits in Every Elementary Class!”

McCall Elementary School received $313.65 for “Gadgets, Reactions, and Gear Bots, oh my!” and Annetta Elementary School received a $869.80 grant for “Inspire with Stories and Circuits.”

Coder Elementary School received $2,990 for “We’re off to see the robots, the wonderful robots of Oz!”

Traditional subjects were awarded grants as well. McCall Elementary School received $970.33 for “Math Reads.” McAnally Intermediate School received $447.36 for “Speed Up Learning” and McCall received $1,649 for “Teach Me More About Math!”

“If they build it, they will learn!” received a $2,720.22 grant for McAnally. Stuard Elementary School received $3,329.95 for “Lego My Ozobot!” and Vandagriff received $689.80 for “Lego Our Learning!”

Communication technology grants were awarded to Coder, Vandagriff, and Walsh Elementary Schools for “Lights, Camera, Action! A Student-led Newscast.” The grants were $1,643.71 each.

Physical education received a boost at McCall with a $6,719.40 grant for “Orange & Black Theory: PUMP IT UP!”

“We are so excited to be able to award more than $52,000 to these fantastic teachers and staff on all campuses in Aledo ISD and are looking forward to even more next year,” AEF Executive Director Shawn Callaway said.
