Five area boys powerlifters ended their season advancing as far as a competitor can go as they were among the participants at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Boys State Meet at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene on Saturday, March 22.
Weatherford’s Talan Tart posted the top finish among area lifters. He placed sixth in the 275-pound weight class, lifting a total of 1,725 pounds.
Fellow Kangaroo Ryan Ekberg finished 20th in the 148 class, lifting 1,270 pounds.
Leading Aledo lifters was Kruger Summers, who was 22nd in the 275 division. He lifted 1,625 pounds.
Chase Wilburn of the Bearcats placed 25th in the 220 weight class with 1,505 pounds lifted. Also, Anthony Flowers’ 1,505 pounds lifted placed him 33rd in the 242 division.
“Great meet. All lifters had their highest total weight of year at an extremely difficult meet,” Aledo coach Brad McCone said. “Extremely proud of these athletes.”
