New play equipment and a fresh look await visitors to a revitalized park at the end of Village Parkway, directly across from Vandagriff Elementary School. The improvements are part of a broad effort by the city to evaluate, improve, and bring up to code all the Aledo parks, city manager Noah Simon explained.
“It’s a process. We took out the old equipment and put in new equipment,” Simon said.
Neighbors have enjoyed the spot for years, even before the first park was built. Adam Morvant said his children, now adults, played in the area before the first playground. Adam built in the neighborhood in 1996.
“This is way better than the old park,” Morvant said while watching children run about in the park. “There used to be nothing here but a natural creek flowing through when we built here.”
Mayor Nick Stanly explained the park revitalization the city has been doing over the years is reflective of the younger demographic of the residents.
