It was a big lectern, but that didn’t intimidate students from McCall Elementary School and Aledo Middle School when they addressed the school board in February.
Aledo Middle School Principal Mandy Musselwhite introduced students who spoke of their “Exceptional Experiences at Aledo Middle School.”
Speakers were Caleb Doss, Luke Tarrant, Landry Kasper, Amos Collier, Julia Bettencourt, and Abigail Myser.
Likewise, students from McCall spoke of their positive experiences at school. Speakers were Kaitlyn Newell, Alex Morris, Liam Scott, Carolina Luna, and Ejona Halili.

Landry Kasper called out the assistant principals at AMS. "they get the job done but they're also very fun people to be around," he said.

Amos Collier expanded on the SUSO program. "As part of our problem solving skills project, we have to devise a plan to use the limited space and resources in our local library to create a more productive and inviting space," he said."

Julia Bettencourt added that "we have learned to take information and apply it to real life situations. We've worked on our presentation skills, we've learned to gain research through asking questions rather than regurgitating knowledge through our books and our essays provided in class."

Abigail Myser spoke of her experience with Speak Up, Speak Out (SUSO). "SUSO is a community civics program that allows a group of students to identify community issue and create presentation to solve the issue," she said.
