Pair of Ladycat softball players TSWA All-State

After leading their team to a third state tournament in four seasons, two pitchers for the Aledo Ladycats softball squad have been named Class 5A All-State by the Texas Sports Writers Association.

Brenlee Gonzales, a recent graduate, was named to the second team. Incoming senior Taylor McKean is an honorable mention.

Gonzales has committed to play for Texas Tech next season. McKean has verbally committed to play for Tarleton State University.

The duo combined for a 34-3 record this past season as Gonzales was 19-1 and McKean posted a 15-2 Mark. In the state semifinals, McKean pitched a one-hitter and struck out 14 in a yeoman effort as the Ladycats dropped a 1-0 contest to Harlingen South.

The Ladycats (35-4) were nothing short of dominant in winning another district championship with a 12-0 record, outsourcing their opponents 136-8. At one point during the season the team had a 23-game winning streak.
