New Faith dedicates new sanctuary

Fills up in first service

Posted

Youth Pastor Johathan Fahl opened Sunday service with a hardy, “Welcome to New Faith Baptist Church,” resulting in applause and cheers from friends, visitors and members there to celebrate the grand opening of a new sanctuary Oct. 6.

Three-year member Gary Montgomery said the new addition is a welcome improvement.

“The difference is night and day,” Montgomery said as he greeted guests at the front door. “There were times we almost couldn’t fit everybody in the old sanctuary. This is a great little country church to be in.”

The building at 3303 W. FM 5 in Aledo was purchased from another congregation in the 1990s and broke ground for the addition in August of last year. The sanctuary can now easily seat 200-plus in addition to an audio-video deck, an interactive stage, storage, and a 60 x 20 multi-purpose room, which can be used as a classroom or preparation room for services and weddings.

The old sanctuary is used for Sunday school, children’s church, and lunch every third Sunday.

“We more than doubled our size,” said Pastor Brandon Carter, who came to New Faith with his wife, Kim, and children Kiera and Kesley, in 2019. “We were growing fast and we really needed the room.”
