Lions use new screening device to determine vision abnormalities

Posted

The Aledo Lions Club took the opportunity to use its new PlusOptix S12C vision screener for the first time on Nov. 16 at the Aledo ISD Early Childhood Academy.

The device takes a quick measurement of the eyes and compares the measurements with age-specific thresholds to determine if the student might need to be referred to an eye care professional.

More than 100 students were screened for vision abnormalities in about two hours. Lions who participated were Troy Miklos, Ben King, Kit Marshall, and Jeff Streetman. They were assisted by Burleson Lion Bill Ayers who brought another S12C screening device.
