Ladycats third in elite meet

Solid start to season continues

Posted

The Aledo Ladycats finished third in the prestigious Southlake Cross Country Invitational Saturday, Aug. 26. They trailed only Lucas Lovejoy and host Southlake Carroll.

"The Southlake meet is a very large, fast meet. Traditionally we set many personal bests at this meet, and this year was no exception – PRs across the board," said head coach Mike Pinkerton. "All of our athletes competed extremely well."

Aledo's varsity teams competed in the Elite Division. The Bearcats finished 25th in the tough field.

Aledo’s top overall finisher was Madison Larsen. She placed sixth among varsity girls with a time of 17 minutes, 33.1 seconds.

The junior varsity boys placed 22nd and the JV girls were 27th. They competed in the Open Varsity Division.

"Running against varsity competition. So very proud of all of these athletes," Pinkerton noted of the JV squads.

The Aledo cross country teams will be in Denton Saturday, Sept. 2, competing in the Coach T Invitational.
