Aledo’s Ladycats started off their playoff run white hot as they dismantled former foe, Everman, in the first round of bi-district action, 55-40, on Monday, Feb. 13.

A trio of Ladycats ended the contest with double-digit scoring. Claire Byars led all scoring for both teams in the game as she posted 21 points on the night with a dominant performance in the post. Presley Hull and Reagan Davis had excellent nights of their own as they finished with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Byars also posted another remarkable achievement, scoring her 1,000th point during her four years as a Ladycat.

Aledo (17-16) never trailed in the game. The Ladycats secured a double-digit lead early as they went up 14-4 on Everman (17-18) in the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs rallied back in the second quarter to cut Aledo’s lead to just two, 21-19, heading into the break at halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Ladycats put the throttle down in the third. Offensively, they were able to score at will while putting up 19 points in eight minutes of action. At the other end of the floor, Aledo pressured Everman relentlessly, holding the Lady Bulldogs to just seven points in the third frame.

In the fourth quarter the Ladycats outpaced Everman one last time, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 15-14 in the final stanza to advance to the next round.

The Ladycats were playing Colleyville Heritage (17-14) in the area round at press time. The winner will face Brewer (27-3) or Midlothian Heritage (29-7) in the third round early next week.
