Only bested by 6A teams

Posted

Bested only by 6A teams, the Aledo Ladycats placed fourth in the Hoka/McNeil Invitational in Round Rock this past Saturday, Sept. 23.

Both the Ladycats and Bearcats qualified to compete in the Gold Division. The meet was held at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

“This was a big meet as it is run on the same course as the state meet,” Aledo coach Mike Pinkerton said. “All runners ran extremely well.”

The Bearcats finished 18th in their division.

The Ladycats were led by Madison Larson, who placed fourth over the 5-kilometer. Micah Neal finished ninth.

Jack Fink led the Bearcats, placing 28th.

The junior varsity teams competed in the Birdville Flyin’ Hawk Invitational, with both the boys and girls running in the varsity division. The Bearcats placed fourth.

“It was another good week for the Aledo cross country teams as both teams ran in very competitive meets at tough courses,” Pinkerton said. “All competed very well.”

Anderson Smith paced the JV Bearcats, placing ninth. Sadie Williams led the JV Ladycats, finishing 26th.

The JV teams were competing at the Granbury Race for the Loot at press time, while the varsity teams will travel to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville to compete in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival.

This is the final competition before the District 5-5A Meet on Oct. 13 at Central Park in White Settlement.
