Kangaroos fall at Trinity

Playoff hopes dashed

Posted

The Weatherford Kangaroos suffered two losses on Friday, Oct. 27: a 38-7 defeat at Euless Trinity, and elimination from playoff contention due to Crowley losing to Boswell the same night.

If Crowley had beaten Boswell, Weatherford would have advanced to the 6A playoffs with a win over Fort Worth Paschal on Thursday, Nov. 2.

At Pennington Field, the Trojans overwhelmed the Kangaroos, outgaining Weatherford 466 yards to 204.

Trojan Josh Bell got the scoring started with a 25-yard touchdown run with 7:13 in the first quarter. Bell scored two more times in the first half, finishing the game with 170 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries.

Keats Bohannon got the start at quarterback for the Roos. Normally a halfback/utility man, Bohannon was thrust into the signal caller role after injuries the previous week to C.J. Thornton and Cutter Kennedy.

Weatherford didn’t score until 3:48 left in the game. Colton McClure caught a Bohannon pass and took it 75 yards for a touchdown.

Trinity had 25 first downs; Weatherford had eight.

The Roos dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in District 3-6A play. Trinity improved to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in district play. The Trojans will advance to the 6A playoffs.

Weatherford will close out the season Thursday.
