The Willow Park Trinity Christian Eagles got their first victory of the season and the first under new head coach Scott Campbell, winning 34-28 at Tyler Bishop T.K. Gorman on Friday, Sept. 19.
The Crusaders (1-3) jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Eagles (1-2) scored the next 27 points.
Eagles quarterback Patrick Gullatt completed nine of his 14 pass attempts for 108 yards and two touchdowns, along with getting an interception on defense. Running back Pearson Kuykendall carried 26 times for 137 yards and three more scores.
The Eagles were 3-of-3 converting fourth down. They had long drives of 10, 14, nine, and 11 plays.
Defensively, linebacker Christian Valdez led the way with nine tackles and a forced fumble, while freshmen linebacker Parker Merrill had seven tackles and a sack. Fellow freshman linebacker Jayton Garrett ended the night with six tackles and a forced fumble.
