Donald “Don” Eugene Garvey, age 79, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
Don was born on March 27, 1945, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Cecil and Dorothy Thorn Garvey.
A proud patriot, he served his country in the National Guard. In August of 1967, Don married the love of his life, Barbara Turiello, and together they built a life full of cherished memories while raising their daughter, Tanya.
Professionally, he worked as a manager at AT&T until his well-earned retirement.
Don’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He became an ordained deacon on November 3, 1974. Don was also a devoted member of North Side Baptist Church.
Don was an avid sports enthusiast, with a deep passion for football. With enthusiasm, he supported the Aledo Bearcats, Dallas Cowboys, and the University of Texas Longhorns.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Garvey.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Garvey of Aledo, Texas; his cherished daughter, Tanya Garvey; granddaughter, Katy Cox; and grandson, Jackson Cox. Don is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Delores Garvey, and his dear sisters, Judy Hembree and Nancy Hench.
Don’s legacy of love, faith, and unwavering devotion to family and community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
