Cross Country: Aledo hosts tri-meet

The meet also featured runners from Class 6A programs Weatherford and Fort Worth Paschal. Aledo is a 5A program.

The Ladycats and Bearcats are both seeking a return to state this season. For the Ladycats it would be a third consecutive season, having finished second in 2023 and third in 2024.

“Our first 5k race of the season, and all kids ran very well!” said Aledo coach Mike Pinkerton. “A shout out to Squaw Creek Golf Course for allowing us to host this tri-meet at their venue. It was an awesome course.”

Topping the Aledo runners was Tyler Connelly, who won the boys division with a time of 16 minutes, 24.85 seconds. Thatcher Pettit was second and Noah Lay was fourth, as the Bearcats had seven of the top 10 finishers.

The Ladycats placed three runners in the top 10, led by Mayden Mitchell placing second and Hadleigh Walton taking third.

No team scores were kept in the meet.

The Bearcats and Ladycats will next compete in the Marcus Coach T Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 30 at North Lakes Park in Denton. The Weatherford teams will compete in the Spartan Run on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Burleson Centennial High School.
