Council provides security cameras for schools

Stuard, Annetta Elementary Schools to receive equipment

Posted

With a constant emphasis on student safety in schools, the Annetta Town Council passed an item that will provide additional security and safety at two elementary schools at their most recent meeting on Aug. 15.

Stuard and Annetta Elementary Schools, both located in Annetta, will receive new security cameras installed by Flock Group Inc.

Annetta Mayor Sandy Roberts explained how the city was able to provide financing for the new security equipment.

“The money was provided by using CCPD funds. The Crime Control and Prevention District is funding, provided by a half-cent sales tax, to implement crime reduction strategies," Roberts said. “If the money was not allocated to this fund, then the state had the right to use this money at their discretion.”

In other business:

  • The fiscal year 2024-25 budget was approved. It features a general fund of 485,400, an increase from last year’s 346,000.
  • Roberts was approved to execute a new electricity contract when market prices are favorable.
