College 1001

Special class for students who are about to leave for college

Posted

Lee Ancona, Ph. D. will present College 1001, a class for students who are about to leave for college, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at The Quad, 213 Pecan Drive in Aledo.

Ancona is a a retired teacher, advisor, tutor, and college instructor (UNT and TCU) who lives in east Parker County.

Navigating through the transition of leaving home and beginning college can be a formidable task. There are distractions and pitfalls on every college campus. This time period is perhaps the biggest change that occurs in a young person’s life and involves the pathway or conduit to adulthood. Balancing academics and an active social life can be a challenge. Add a part time job and it can be overwhelming.

Any student going to college this fall at any college or university is welcome to attend. Pizza, soft drinks, and good conversation will be on the menu, and attendees are asked to bring a notebook and pen or pencil.
