For the second year in a row, Aledo’s Ladycat hoops team has dropped the season opener to Bridgeport. The Ladycats got the basketball season underway on Saturday, Nov. 4, with a 45-32 loss to the Lady Bulls.

Aledo jumped out in front early to take a slim 10-9 lead in the first quarter of action. Competition stayed tight in the second quarter as the Ladycats outscored Bridgeport 9-8 to take a 19-17 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Lady Bulls were a different ball team. Aggressiveness at both ends of the floor made the difference for the hosting team as they tallied 28 second-half points while holding Aledo to just 13 at the other end of the floor.

Senior shooting guard Caroline Browning led the Ladycats in scoring as she put up 15 points. Brooklyn Dempsey added nine points. Elizabeth Griffin tacked on seven of her own.

The Ladycats were playing Krum at home at press time. They will host Tenaha Tuesday, Nov. 14, JV at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6;30.
