Bearcats’ Jones named TSWA All-State

Ryan Jones, a recent graduate of Aledo High School, has been named Class 5A honorable mention all-state by the Texas Sports Writers Association.

Jones, a third baseman, has committed to play in college at Texas Tech.

Jones was also named first-team all-state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, as was shortstop Boyd Thompson, who has committed to play at Seminole State College.

The Bearcats won District 5-5A and advanced to the third round of the playoffs.

Weatherford

Two Kangaroos were honored by the TSWA on the Class 6A All-State Team. Recently graduated outfielder J.T. Cienega was named to the first team and incoming junior catcher Jett Vindiola is an honorable mention.

Both were also selected by the THSBCA.

Cienaga has committed to play for Grayson College next season.

The Kangaroos finished as runners-up in District 3-6A and advanced to the playoffs.
