Annetta: Council tables amending the drought contingency plan

Posted

The Annetta Town Council meeting only had a few items on the agenda at its Feb. 20 meeting, but none were more important than ordinance amending the Drought Contingency plan.

Every council member had valuable input in regard to how the plan should be put in effect considering the amount of the service fee customers should be charged when they exceed the limit that all customers adhere to.

“We have customers that are always in compliance with the limits not matter the season. We also have customers that have told us they don’t care if they go over the limit, they want to have a green yard no matter the season,” commented Mayor Sandy Roberts.

“Our customers have been extremely understanding when it comes to water usage and why we need to apply service fees to those who continue to use excessive amount of water,” Mayor pro-tem Kent Stacey said.

Annetta has a superior rating for their water and wants to keep that standard they have worked so hard for.

The council will meet again in regard to the service fees and a “tier” system on the usage of water that customer will be assessed when they go over a certain usage.

The mayor also read a proclamation stating that March 16-25 will be Poison Prevention week.
