The Aledo Bearcats and Ladycats began the season on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at Fort Worth Chisholm Trail in a tri-match that also included Weatherford.
The Bearcats defeated Chisholm Trail 45-35 and defeated Weatherford 43-42 on a tiebreaker. The Ladycats fell 42-18 to Chisholm Trail and 60-6 to Weatherford.
“Our girls had two hard fought matches but fell short in both of them,” head coach Austin Stockon said. “Our boys team got off to a strong start.”
The girls team was led by Avery Kernan (107 pound division), who pinned both her opponents. Boys standouts were Ian Mccormick (138), Kyle Scharlow (150), Sam Belyeu (165) and Brice Vonasek (215). They pinned every one of their opponents.
The Bearcats and Ladycats are competing in the Arlington Invitational this weekend.
