Aledo runners have big day in Granbury

Posted

The Aledo cross country teams had another sterling day as the varsity boys won the Granbury Race for the Loot event this past Friday, while the varsity girls took second. The 5K races were run on the Granbury Disc Golf Course.

“Another great day for the Bearcats and Ladycats Cross Country teams! We were missing two of our varsity girls runners, which allowed some JV girls to run in the varsity division – and they did a fantastic job,” Aledo coach Mike Pinkerton said.

The varsity girls saw several new PR times, while all seven runners on the varsity boys clocked below 18 minutes.

The JV boys also finished second, while Pinkerton was also impressed with the four runners on the JV girls, though they did not have enough for a complete team.

Individual results are:

Varsity girls - Elizabeth Griffin, fourth, 20:00.20; Sophia Brandenburg, fifth, 20:10.50; Aubrey Connally, 21st, 21:35.21; Sadie Williams, 49th, 22:48.30; Emily Lewis, 51st, 22:52.30.
