Aledo competes at TISCA event

The Aledo swim team competed in the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Meet in Lewisville Nov. 17-18. They were led by Jacqueline Gruber, who set two school records in winning two events.

Gruber clocked a time of 51 seconds in taking first in the 100-yard freestyle and a time of 1 minute, 50.20 seconds in winning the 200 freestyle.

The meet featured 30 top qualifying teams from University Interscholastic League Class 6A, 5A and the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

Haley Roberson took third place in the 500 freestyle, dropping her own school record to a 5:07.14. She also placed fifth in the 200 individual medley with a time of  2:10.39. 

For the boys, Porter Lane finished fifth in the 100 butterflywith a time of 51.52. 

Other notable performances included:

The girls 200 medley relay of Roberson, Gruber, Victoria Crews and Julia Gordy took ninth with a time of 1:53.32 (missing the school record by .08), and the same group of girls placed ninth in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:43.26.

Crews was 10th in the 100 butterfly, clocking 1:00.26. 

“This is the most athletes we’ve taken to this meet in individual events in several years,” coach Meghan Roberson said. “To have this many also make finals in individual events is an excellent place to be at this point in the season. I’m incredibly proud of the gutsy swims these kids had this weekend.”
