Aledo Clay Busters bringing home medals in summer competitions

The Aledo Clay Busters shooting team garnered four medals and many personal best scores when they competed at the Texas Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) State Championship on June 9-12 at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio.

In the Trap discipline, Christian Aguila competed in the Collegiate Division and earned first place and the state championship with a score of 99. Christoff Aguila competed in the JV Division and earned third place in a shoot-out after an initial score of 97. Dean Gallaher competed in the Intermediate Entry Level Division and earned a spot in the top ten, placing ninth with a score of 87. Tyler Lewis competed in the Intermediate Advanced Division and also earned a spot in the top ten, placing sixth and shooting his first perfect round of 25 in competition. In the Senior Varsity Division, high scores were reported by Jake Seaman (93) and Scott Mason (92).

In the Skeet discipline, Dean Gallaher competed in the Intermediate Entry Level Division and earned third place after a shoot-out, with an initial score of 90. Scott Mason competed in the Senior Varsity Division and was tied for fifth place with a score of 97. Jake Seaman also reported a high score of 90 in this Division.

In the Sporting Clays discipline, high scores were reported by Scott Mason (92) and Cale Jaros (90) in the Senior Varsity Division.

“We are extremely proud of our team’s effort in the state competition,” said a coach from the ACB. 

With approximately 270 shooters throughout the men’s divisions, Dean Gallaher earned third place High Overall Average in his division. Scott Mason earned 11th place High Overall Average in his division, with 117 athletes competing in the Varsity division. Mason’s score in Skeet has earned him a spot on the Skeet All State team, and he will compete for Texas at the National Shooting Competition in Ohio in July.

ACB will have five team members competing in the SCTP National Shooting Competition which begins on July 7 in Marengo Ohio. Drew Woodliff, Scott Mason, Craig Mason, Brady Christensen, and Dean Gallaher will represent the team.

ACB also announced that Christoff Aguila and Scott Mason were chosen for the SCTP/SSSF 2022 All Scholastic Team. In order to qualify for this honor, the athletes had to earn certain scores in competition as well as maintain a high grade point average and submit two letters of recommendation.
