On Tuesday, Sept. 19, the Aledo varsity tennis team defeated the Saginaw Rough Riders 19-0 to continue their undefeated district streak. The Racquetcats are 12-1 overall, 4-0 in district, and have won eight straight matches.
Girls doubles: Line 1 Kenley Germany and Bryanna Orr won 6-2, 6-0; Line 2 Elli Kate Bussmeir and Patrice Loftin won 6-1, 6-1; and Line 3 Eleanor Jack and Natalie Nawrocki won 6-1, 6-0. Boys doubles: Line 1 Craig Mason and Scott Mason won 7-5, 6-2; Line 2 Jacob Heckathorn and Francois Britz won 6-2, 6-2; and Line 3 Will Beyer and Tom Ruminsky won 6-1, 6-1.
The mixed doubles pair of Benjamin Farmer and Lila Satterfield won 6-1, 6-0.
In Girls singles, Line 1 Orr won 8-0; Line 2 Germany won 6-1, 6-0; Line 3 Bussmeir won 6-1, 6-0; Line 4 Satterfield won 8-1; Line 5 Gracie Heydman won 8-1 and Line 6 Sydney Byrd won 8-4.
In boys singles, Line 1 C. Mason won 6-0, 6-0; Line 2 Farmer won 8-1; Line 3 S. Mason won 8-2; Line 4 Beyer won 6-0, 6-0; Line 5 Britz won 6-0, 6-1 and Line 6 Ruminsky won 8-3.
For this last district home match of the season, the senior team members were recognized and celebrated for their hard work and effort within the program.
Two away matches remain; the team takes on Northwest next Tuesday, Sept. 26, and will play their last match against Wichita Falls Rider the following Tuesday.
Playoffs will begin the week of Oct. 9.
