Music fans were treated to jazz, tropical music and jump-blues as Aledo High School Jazz Band entertained at the Island Breeze fundraiser in the school cafeteria.
Multiple musicians took solos and students bopped and twirled on the dance floor as guests enjoyed cake and refreshments. Led by Jake Albin, AHS Associate Director of Bands, parents and students enjoyed great authors and conductors such as Henry Mancini, Buddy Johnson, Herbie Hancock, and Gordan Goodwin.
The event opened with guest artists The Jags, a trio composed of former AHS jazz band students. Members of The Jags are Jerry Olazaran, sax, now at TCU; August Lambert, bass, now at Texas Tech; and Gavin Haddox, drums, now at UTA.
The Aledo band will perform May 6 at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts in Richardson.
