The Parker County Retired Teachers will meet at 11:30 a.m. for lunch followed by a noon business meeting and program on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Central Christian Church’s Cuppett Hall, 1602 S. Main St., in Weatherford. The program will be presented by the Klassy Kloggers, a local dance group, who will be clogging to the music of the Christmas season. For lunch members will treat each other to their favorite Christmas dishes. There is no cost for lunch this month. Call 817-594-5748 to get more information.

The Parker County Retired Teachers will meet at 11:30 a.m. for a lunch followed by a noon business meeting and program on Nov. 5 at Central Christian Church's Cuppett Hall, 1602 S. Main St. in Weatherford. State Rep. Phil King will speak on the passage of SB 1458, which allows retired Texas teachers to receive a raise. Lunch for $8 will be catered by Baker's Ribs. The Aledo Choir will be offering another pumpkin patch at the Aledo Farmer's Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 26. Pumpkins will be available along with face painting, various carnival games, a bounce house and lots of home baked treats. Also, discount cards for various Parker County vendors will be available for $10.

The 5th Annual AMS Student Council Trunk or Treat will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, prior to the varsity football game in the stadium parking lot. This is a free event for kids 10 years and younger. Costumes are encouraged.

The Parker County Hospital District will host an immunization clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, at Aledo Middle School. The clinic will provide all immunizations necessary for Aledo ISD students, Pre-K through grade 12, to begin the school year. Aledo ISD conforms to State requirements and no child will be allowed to begin school without documented proof of current immunizations.
A retirement celebration for Dan Manning will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, at the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus. A program honoring the superintendent’s thirty years of service will begin at 4:30 pm.

AISD will honor the district’s military kids and families on Monday, April 15. April marks the nation’s “Month of the Military Child,” a time to honor youth impacted by deployment. In celebration, Texas Operation: Military Kids (OMK), part of the 4-H Youth Development program of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Services, invites Aledo ISD to join the 3rd annual “Purple Up! For Military Kids.”
Last year there was tremendous support for Aledo ISD’s inaugural Purple Up! for Military Kids day. AISD encourages all students, staff and teachers o wear purple as a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is the combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red and Navy blue.

Aledo Fest, the PTO's spring fundraiser, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Aledo High School. The family fun day will raise money for all of the district's schools.
Events include a dunking booth, video game truck, cake walk, face painting and temporary tattoos, a photo booth, bounce houses and inflatables, a soda pop walk, vendors and concessions, carnival games, a baseball throw and bingo.
Wristbands are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Activity tickets are $10 and video game truck tickets are $5.

McAnally Intermediate School is offering a March 25 shot clinic to all current sixth-graders to help prepare them for seventh grade. These shots are REQUIRED in order to enter seventh grade in the fall. The clinic is from 8 a.m. to noon that day. Incoming seventh-graders need the following immunizations: the second varicella (unless a student has had the chicken pox virus), Meningococcal, and TDAP booster.
During the week of March 4, immunization permission forms and a current copy of each student’s shot record will be sent home with students. The form will need to be completed and returned to McAnally. The current shot record will show the student’s current immunization status. It can be also be used for summer camps, as well as to obtain shots at a doctor’s office (if the parent chooses to not use the shot clinic). As the required seventh-grade immunizations are obtained, the immunization records will be updated in the nurse’s office, and a new copy will be given to parents. Student immunization records can be faxed to McAnally at 817-441-5177.
