Parent Awareness Workshop
***OPEN TO THE PUBLIC***
Please join the Aledo ISD Police Department and our Community Partners as we heighten parent awareness to teenage impaired and distracted driving.
Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 7-9pm
Don R. Daniel Ninth Grade Center
990 Bailey Ranch Rd, Aledo, TX 76008
Our children grow up faster than we as parents ever imagine. Today’s adolescents and teens face some of the same challenges we did as kids, but in a faster, more intense environment. Teenage impaired or distracted driving impacts not just families and schools, but communities at large.
Come learn about what “impaired” and “distracted” driving are, how to recognize if your teen is at risk, and steps to help keep your teen’s dreams from being shattered in the blink of an eye.
Const. Scott Jones-Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (Retired)

Aledo ISD Police Chief Chawn Gilliland announced today that Aledo ISD Police took into custody today one juvenile student for allegedly making terroristic threats towards fellow students at the Don R. Daniel Ninth Grade Center in Aledo.
The Aledo ISD Police Department, following an investigation initiated by campus administrators, uncovered additional evidence leading to the student's detention and transport to a juvenile detention center. Although numerous rumors and suspicions have been reported to the school administration and police department in the prior week, this is the only incident which police detectives believed had credible evidence to support detaining a student.
Gilliland said the Aledo ISD Police Department along with Aledo ISD staff are committed to thoroughly investigating each and every threat against students and property.
"Our goal is to ensure all students and staff are in a safe environment," Gilliland said. "Good communication between students, parents and staff, along with prompt, in-depth investigations are key to assessing threats and taking appropriate and preventative action."
